Trenton's first time to Hawaii

So it has taken me two months to get around to writing this blog because the pictures are on the laptop we don't use too often so I kept forgetting to write, my bad! Anyway, we went to Hawaii in May, just after Trenton turned 6 months and we had a blast! Our flight unfortunately was delayed by 8 hours so our trip was kind of cut off by one day, but that is alright. Trenton was a champ on the plane and fussed very little. The first week there was a quiet week where we relaxed and swam at the beach and pool. Trenton was not a huge fan of the water at first, but then after he got used to the temperature he liked it. After a few days he learned not to scream when he first got in, he just whimpered till he got used to it. He got so comfortable in the float grandma got, that he fell asleep in the water more than once :) Boy does Trenton LOVE sand. At first I let him eat it just to get a picture, but then I could not get him to stop! Every time we looked away from him for a second, he would grab a big ol' handful and stick it in his mouth. His preference was just to face plant and eat it that way ;) We went to Turtle Beach to see all the sea turtles and my mom kinda got in a fight with the "Honu Police". Haha they are just self appointed tree huggers that rope off the turtles (for those of you who don't know it is illegal to touch sea turtles) so tourists don't touch them. Well we wanted a picture up kind close so we went around towards where the waves were breaking so there was no rope and got our picture that way. We did not touch there turtle, not even close, but the "Honu Police" lady came and asked us to move and we went to move cause we got our picture, but my mom who can't stand how uptight they are got in a little argument with her, but nothing big. Then some Japanese couple did the same thing as us and the lady blamed my mom for it and it started all over again. Haha.

Our first morning there (we were up at 4 am due to time change. This was at 6ish)

BEAUTIFUL sunrise

walk on Kahuku beach

One day we heard this really weird noise so we went to go see what it was and it was a PEACOCK! Then the next day 4 more peacocks (technically peahens since the were girls the second day) showed up. In the 11 years of living there this was a first. (did you know the can fly? Not for very long, but they can.)

First time swimming
He fell asleep shortly after getting used to the water

And some other pics taken through out the week

He fell asleep on our walk and we wanted him to stay asleep

Peek a boo with Grandpa. No one can get him to laugh like Grandpa can.

The second (and last) week there my sister, Marissa, and her family came and it was so much fun! I was so used to seeing my sister and her family at least 5+ times a year when they lived in Provo, but then they moved to Arizona and I have only been able to see them a few times. So having them there was awesome! Trenton loved his cousins! The first time he met them he was 6 weeks old so it was a lot of fun to see him interact with them. He learned so much from watching Taiven (who was 14 months at the time). He went from not even really rolling too much to being able to scoot backwards and almost forward. He then was crawling a month later. Kalei adored him and loved play with him. Tavita liked to talk to him and play. Brayden was a close second to getting him to laugh as much as Grandpa could.

Fun week with cousins

The poly kids

And Trenton glows! (Before they came we were saying that he was tanning up quite nice. HA!)

He didn't mind being buried cause he had sand!

Look at that cute smile!

Hey guys! Just chillin in a hole
Story time with Grandpa

Taiven wasn't sure what to think of Trenton

He sometimes got a little annoyed with him

Morning cuddles with cousin Kalei

Chillin in the pool

Our last full day there we hiked the Makapu'u light house and boy was it hot! It was sad cause Tavita was sick, but it worked out because we had brought a stroller for Kalei, but she didn't trust anyone to push her and thought we would go toppling off the side (coming from the girl who thought her mom was going to push her off the side of a staircase to go flying down because she didn't see a glass wall) so Tavita was able to ride in the stroller. It was a really pretty hike and a lot of fun

It was really bright and he fell asleep

Windy!
The crew

So tired! Poor Tavita was burning up and when we took his temp it was 102

We got to hang out with Junior (Marissa's hubby) for one day so we had to grab a quick picture!

And we also didn't have a good family picture so we took this one at the point (who needs a photographer when you have a self timer?)

Trenton 6-7 Months

So I was going to write a post about Trenton being 6 months old, but we didn't have internet at the time and then we went to Hawaii. We got internet about a 5 days after we got back, but I was too busy taking care of sick people (Ben and Trenton) to write. So here we are 4 days away from Trenton turning 7 months...oops! At 6 months Trenton weighed 18 lbs 1 oz and was just shy of 27 in. He had barely started rolling around a few days before he turned 6 months. He was sitting pretty well, but still fell once in awhile. That is how he stayed until the 13th of May when his big cousin Taiven (who is 7 1/2 months older and walking) also came to Hawaii to visit Grandma and Grandpa (along with his whole family). In the 5 days that Trenton saw Taiven walking around, he started to scoot in circles, backwards, and getting up on his knees and rocking back and forth. Since we have been home in the past week he is doing the exact same stuff. I think that Trenton maybe one to learn/ get motivated by watching :)  He does sit really well now and very rarely falls ever. He went to the doctors the other day for his cough and he was up to 18 lbs 12 oz. Unfortunately at the doctors we also found a double ear infection, but it doesn't seemed to bother him. I think the greatest news of all is that a few days ago his bottom 2 teeth FINALLY broke through! But now his top 2 teeth are 3/4 of the way down his gums so they will soon be trying to break through his gums :/.

We love Trenton so much! He is the cutest thing ever and we say that over and over. He makes the cutest noises and cutest faces that it makes us laugh all the time. He had a blast while in Hawaii, but I will write another post about Hawaii.

Look at how much he has grown in 6 months!

Our Scary Afternoon

Friday was as normal as any other day. Ben was at work and Trenton and I were waiting at home excited for daddy to get home. Ben was supposed to get off at 4 and he usually is home within 10 minutes. At 4:20 he still wasn't home so I gave him a call and he said he was almost home and as I was talking to him Trenton threw up EVERY WHERE! I would say it was his last 2 feedings worth all over his legs, my stomach and leg and the couch (down in the crack none the less and our cushions do not come off). At first I just thought how unbelievably nasty it was and I told Ben to hurry so he could help me clean up. After I hung up I realized Trenton wasn't breathing (it was a matter of 5-10 seconds between him throwing up and me realizing he wasn't breathing). I hurried up and tilted him and he started breathing, he was all happy fine and dandy. After I stripped him and myself down of the nastiness and threw our clothes in the washer Ben had gotten home and I told him to take care of Trenton while I showered off real fast. As I was getting out of my 2 second shower Ben had brought Trenton upstairs to get him a new outfit and then he threw up again and was having a really hard time breathing again. Ben luckily got him over the sink so there was no new mess to clean up except for Ben's arm. We were planning on going out and running a few errands but I told Ben just to go by himself and I would stay home and give Trenton a bath because he smelt and I was hoping it would help him feel better. As I was giving him a bath he threw up again (now all out of food in his system it was getting to the mucus throw up) and he started doing a really sad sad cry that neither of us had heard before. Ben went to Walgreens to get him pedialite while I stayed home with him and then he  threw up AGAIN (at this point I was carrying a bucket around with me to catch the throw up) and so I told Ben to call the doctors to see if we should go in. I then called my mom and told her and she said to keep a close eye out because babies get dehydrated fast. As I was on the phone with her Trenton threw up again so I had Ben come home and we went to the doctors even though the nurse said that she didn't think we needed to come in. At this point he had lost all his color and was shaking. He threw up a bunch more between the drive, the waiting room, and waiting for the doctor to come in. I was worried because when they weighed him with his clothes ON he was only 16.02lbs and I knew he was 17 lbs normally. They came in and got some blood and then gave him an anti-nausea shot. He then FINALLY stopped throwing up. He was to the point of throwing up bile every 5 minutes and his crying was SO sad. I would say 15ish times in just over an hour. The doctor came in with the blood results and said his white blood cell count was extremely high and that had him a little worried. He gave us a prescription for some anti-nausea medicine and said to give it to him 6 hours later if he started to throw up again and to give him only pedialite through the night till we came back the next morning to check his blood again. He said that if he started up as bad as he was in the night we would have to go to the emergency room and if his white blood cell count was still high in the morning we would have to emit him to the hospital! SCARIEST thing for parents to hear. Luckily he was a champ through the night and didn't throw up once. He woke up a bunch because he was uncomfortable sleeping up right in his swing (doctor's orders) and he was hungry because pedialite isn't very filling. He also HATED the pedialite at first, but after he realized that was his only source of food he ate it just fine. The next morning we took a trip to the doctors and he was back up to 16.11lbs with clothes off wich made me very very happy. Then they did the blood test and the doctor came in and said that his WBC count was back down! Friday it was 23.3 and just 15 hours later it was 13.9. Woot woot no hospital! The doctor said if he didn't know any better he would have thought it was food poisioning, but he didn't know how that would happen if I didn't have it since I was his only source of food. He did have rice cereal but the doc said that it wouldn't happen from that. So it remains a mystery as to what made him sick, but he is pretty much better (still having pedialite every other feeding to get him totally rehydrated). I feel so blessed that nothing too terrible happened and that our doctors is open till 6pm and open on Saturday because it saved us a trip to the ER. Count your blessings every day!

Trenton Man is 4 Months!

I have been meaning to write an update on Trenton for awhile, but I have been really bad about it. He turned 4 months on the 1st and is growing very quickly. It amazes me how much he has grown in the past 4 months. He already fits in 6-9month clothes! At birth he was 7lbs 4oz. At his first check up a few days later he was 7lbs. Most babies lose quite a bit of weight in the first little bit, especially babies who nurse because of latching problems. But Trenton was a champ and only lost 4 oz. At 6 weeks old we had to take him to the ER because he was having a hard time breathing and our Dr's office was already closed. He turned out just to have an upper respiratory infection, but he was already up to 11lbs at just 6 weeks. At his 2 month appt he was over 12lbs. He was in the 64th percentile for his head, 65th for his height and 67th for his weight. Just recently at his 4 month appt he was 16lbs 1 oz and 25 inches long. I think his head was 15 or 16 cm. His weight was in the 75th percentile, height was 51st, and head was 43rd. It AMAZED me that his head was only in the 43rd, not that I think he has an abnormally large head, but I have the HARDEST time getting so many of his shirts/onsies over his head. Anyway, as you can see, he is a little chunky monkey and we love it! He has chubby cheeks and thighs and it is so cute! At his appt the Dr asked how he was sleeping and I told him he usually sleeps through the night (has been since 2 1/2 months) but the past 2 nights he had been fussy all night. He went to see if he was teething early and noticed that the skin under his tongue (you know the line of skin connecting your tongue to the bottom of your mouth) was extra long. He asked if he had any problems eating and then kind of laughed at himself and said well besides gaining weight. I told him he was a bit of a messy eater but nothing else. He then said that he might have  a few problems with talking when he got older. He asked if we just wanted to do a little tiny snip to prevent any future problems and I said sure, but boy did it bleed A LOT. I felt so bad for Trenton. I finally was getting him to where it was soft sobs instead of screaming crying when the nurses came in and gave him shots. It was so sad! I finally got him calm after about 15 minutes (by the way he did awesome with his 2 months shot, only cried for about 2 minutes. I think there was just too much hurting going on this time).

I feel like Trenton is kind of skipping a step in his life because he is almost sitting up and he's teething, but he isn't rolling! Oh and the Dr never told me if he was teething or not because he got distracted by the whole tongue snipping thing, but last Monday I looked in his mouth and saw those poor swollen little gums. Anyway, like I said, he isn't rolling. He is actually able to because he does it when he is tired, but when he is happy and on the ground playing he shows no desire to roll over. I don't mind though because I am scared for him to become mobile. I like the staying still phase!

Ben and I love Trenton so much! He is the cutest little thing ever. He has the happiest smile, the cutest laugh, and he is generally a pretty chill kid. He loves anything that moves, such as the t.v., cars out the window, our fish tank, ceiling fans, and anything that lights up. His two favorite toys both light up and play music. My sister-in-law, Sara, let us borrow a play chair/exersaucer without the saucer type thing and he LOVES it! Every time I put him in it he gets a huge smile on his face and looks so proud of himself for being able to be up and looking around all by himself. His favorite is the mirror. He will stare at himself for minutes and when I call his name he will look up and give a huge smile, then look right back down at himself.

He has the cutest laugh and I love that he is starting to laugh more! It's awesome. He is also starting to use his hands more and you can tell when he is tired when he wants to cuddle and then play with your hand. He still loves his daddy more than anything and gets a huge smile whenever Ben gets home from work/school. I wish I had videos of his huge smile and his cute laugh, but whenever I get the Ipod out or the camera out to take pictures he gets interested in the device I am holding and stops smiling/laughing. Well I will try to be better at keeping up with this thing, but I can't promise anything :)

The Easter outfit Ben's mom got him. She doesn't like the hat, but Ben does.

Tummy time! He is a champ at it!

Who doesn't love a baby in their bath towel?

This picture is a few weeks old, but I just love how he snuggles with his blankie. It is so cute!

I put this picture up on Facebook already, but it is my all time favorite picture. He was talking (yelling and gagaing) for a long time telling Ben a story. Cutest thing ever!

Christmas

Christmas was a lot of fun. We had my parents and my sister, Marissa, and her whole family at our house. Sleeping arrangements were a little tight, but we made it work no problem and we had a lot of fun. My mom arrived on Thursday afternoon and Marissa's family arrived on Friday night. We stayed up talking for a little bit on Friday, but not too long. Saturday we woke up, relaxed, played Wii, and did lots of crafts. Sunday we went to church, watched Christmas videos, and made Snoopy gingerbread houses while watching "Charlie Brown's Christmas". I didn't get any pictures of it, but boy were they COVERED in red frosting. It was great. Monday was Christmas Eve and that was when my Dad was going to be getting into town, but with the weather he didn't get here till late afternoon/early evening. While we waited for him we got all bundled up and went to the church parking lot for some fun. We tied a big tube to the back of Ben's car and pulled people around on it. Kalei (Marissa's daughter) was kinda bored because we had to be careful with her and had more fun making snow angels, but the two boys, Brayden and Tavita, had a blast! My mom has a video of it on her facebook, but I don't know how to get it from facebook to here. If you are friends with my mom then you can go to her videos and watch because it was hilarious. Brayden was yelling "Ahhh we're gonna die!!" (He was of course enjoying every second of it even though he "thought" they were gonna die). Christmas Eve night we acted out the nativity scene (an Orme family tradition). I thought I had gotten the pics of it off of my Dad's camera, but I guess I missed those ones and only got Christmas and the day after Christmas, so I will have to describe it to you. Trenton was baby Jesus, Kalei was Mary, Brayden was Joseph, Ben was the Donkey, Marissa, Tavita, and I were the three wise men, Junior was a Sheppard, and Taiven was the angel (Ben also turned into the angel holder after he was done being the Donkey). It usually is only kids that act it out, but since we were low on children we had to call on the next generation while Grandma watched and enjoyed and Grandpa read the story. It was a lot of fun. We then sang Christmas Carols (another tradition) and had some dessert. Then we wrote letters to Santa, left him out some cookies, and then went to bed. The next morning we actually had to wake up some of the kids because Ben had to be at work by 8:30. Cousin love while waiting to go down stairs
Waiting on Grandpa and Uncle Junior to take pictures of the before
The before
The during
The after
That afternoon when Ben got home from work we decided to go sledding. Now Rexburg doesn't have very many hills to go sledding on and the one good one was up on campus. Well BYU oh so very kindly decided to do construction on that hill so it is no more :(. We ended up going to a basin/field by our old apartment. The hill was not very big at all but it still ended up being a lot of fun because we were able to do a lot of crazy things and no one got hurt. Even Taiven was able to go down!
Mommy and Taiven
The day after Christmas we got to bless our handsome baby boy! It was the day that we would be able to get the most amount of people up here. We did it at the church even though it wasn't Sunday (we weren't about to try and squeeze even more people into our house). Ben did an awesome job on the blessing. I love that Trenton has a Priesthood holder to look up to just like I did. The men who did the blessing
Everyone
Cousins (Taiven on right and Carter one left)
The cute little guy
Mom & Dad
Grandmas & Grandpas
The next day Marissa's family left and the day after my parents left. It was a lot of fun having them up here since I don't get to see my family too often!

One CRAZY weekend

It all started with Tyler's (my brother) wedding. He got married on the 15th of December. So on the 14th we headed on down to Utah. My dad got 2 hotel rooms, with living rooms, for the family in Salt Lake so we would be close to the temple in the morning and we also could have a little family Christmas party since a lot of the family would be there. Ben and I were in charge of bringing our Christmas tree (a fake one) and stuff to cook dinner with. So that in itself took up quite a bit of room. But it is AMAZING how much room a little tiny baby takes up in the car. First you have the bulky car seat. Then you have their stroller, pack and play, blankets, diapers, wipes, and lots of clothes just in case they pee out or poop out. So it was entertaining trying to pack up our little car. Ben and I were the first to arrive at the hotel so we checked in for the family and dropped off our VERY VERY full car. We then ran over to the airport to pick up my brothers Ryan and Jason. Their wives and kids were unfortunately unable to make it. Then back to the hotel we went and set up the tree because we thought the rest of the family would be there in the next hour or two, but they were not. My mom and dad had to finish up their Christmas shopping so they were not able to make it up in time for my mom to make the dinner she had planned so we ended up getting pizza instead. My sister, Marissa, and her husband, Junior, got a late start so they didn't get to Provo till later than planned and Marissa still had to make the wedding cake. Tyler and Michelle (his wife) were late too and so everyone got to Salt Lake a little later than planned, but we still had a fun time and ended they night having ice cream at Leatherby's (best ice cream in Utah). The next morning we actually did not do too bad in getting ready in time and to the temple in time. We were only a little late wich is really really good for our family. The wedding was beautiful and it was awesome to see Tyler get married in the temple bceause that makes 6 out of 6 of us married in the temple wich is awesome! Michelle is an awesome girl and gets along with the family well. Here is a picture I stole off of her facebook After the temple we packed our car full again and started down to Provo for the Luncheon, but unfortunately 15-20 minutes into our drive Tyler calls up telling us to turn around because we somehow ended up with his bag in our car and they had his car keys in them. So that added about 40 minutes to the drive so we and the Bride and Groom were almost an hour late to the luncheon, but it is all good cause that's just how our family is :) The reception was held that night and it was a lot of fun (minus a candle freakishly falling over and spilling wax all over Ben. Luckily he wasn't hurt, but no one knows how the candle fell.) The next morning we were supposed to head home, but unfortunately we had to drive down to Arizona for a funeral. About a week before we got a very sad call from my mom saying that my sister in law Janica lost her baby at almost 5 months along. So we carpooled with my parents andleft Sunday morning and got to Mesa late Sunday night. Woke up early Monday to Trenton not breathing very well because he got a stuffy nose. Spent all of Monday morning driving around Mesa and Tempe getting ready for the funeral. The funeral was just a graveside service with the family and it was one of the most spiritual/saddest experiences of my life that made all of the driving with a newborn COMPLETLY worth it. The spirit was so strong and the spirit of little Fenton Lila could not have been stronger. Although we are really sad that we never got to meet her in this life, we are glad to know that she made it straight back to living with our Heavenly Father. They had a great quote on the program that I loved. It said, "The best way to have Heaven in your home is to have someone from your home in Heaven." I loved that quote and it has become my new favorite. After the funeral I could just see that Jonathan and Janica were more at peace. Afterward we had a little lunch/dinner get together with both sides of the family. Then that night we left Mesa drove to Las Vegas and slept in a hotel for no joke 3 hours. That is it because we had to get to Salt Lake for my Dad to make his 12:50pm flight. We picked up our car in Provo, drove up to Salt Lake where my Dad dropped off his van at the car rental place. Ben hurried and drove my dad to the airport while I emptied out the van. I got the van totally emptied and the carried a suitcase, duffle bag, a bunch of presents and a baby in a car seat up to the building to turn in the keys and THEY HAD LEFT! They knew we were there, but the left for lunch!! (It is a really small car rental place where there is only one or two workers at a time) I was so annoyed. It would have been fine if it wasn't 10 degrees outside. So I carried it all back to the van and chilled in the van till ben got back where we loaded up his car and by then the people had come back. By then we were starving and were looking for not fast food. We couldn't agree on anything but Denny's and we could not find one for the life of us even though I know they are all over Utah. We ended up eating at McDonalds (so healthy and non fast food right?) Then we headed on home and by the time we reached Blackfoot we were soooooo tired that we just spent the night at Ben's parents. The next day we headed home so Ben could get to work and we were FINALLY home after the longest 5 days of our lives. Trenton was as good as a 6 week old can be for 36ish plus hours of driving in 5 days. He would cry really hard because his car seat would make him super super sweaty. But what can you expect out of a him? It was all worth it though to see family, support family, see friends, and make memories :) This is what we looked like on the way down to AZ, imagine how we looked by the time we got home!
